Don't know if I'm going about this in the right context, would it be possible to give me access to the DIY forum please?

agreed,

the permissions don't seem right, I mean you'd expect the electricians to be able to help out in the DIY section, but we can't... fair enough

but the DIY'ers are able to post in our section? they shouldn't be able to read it let alone post!

Just my opinion..

The DIY forum is on an 'opt-in' basis because many members have no patience with DIY'ers and don't wish to assist them. I can happily give you access on the understanding the we don't tolerate insulting or sarcastic comments regardless of how stupid the questions may seem.

Hi marvo, I just think it would be good to see how people tackle even the simplest of jobs. It was only a few years ago that I entered the electrical world so I'm yet to call myself a fully fledged sparky, cheers

We generally only allow access to the DIY forum for DIY'ers who want to post questions and general members who've proved themselves to be level headed and capable of giving good electrical advice. Maybe make a few posts around the board and give me a nudge again for access when you've got a post count above 30 or so. I've given you full normal member permissions so you can do all the things that usually only become available after a short probation period for new members ie attach images, use the PM system and your posts will appear immediately without staff approval.

jesus wept look at the que to get in there....

I didn`t think that peoples lives in here revolved so much on how many likes n thanks they could root out from amongst the turnips....
