Hello,

Which amendment of the 18th BS7671 required RCDs for protecting lighting circuits (domestic)? I was told it’s amendment 2. Is that correct? Or is it amendment 1?

Yes, it was fitted in April 2022. What are SPD’s? What are your thoughts on my previous questions re. Certificates / building control?

Thanks, but from a fundamental legal position, would it have been possible to provide a final completion certificate and ‘handover’ with this? Would it be builds control notifiable (if not registered with any orgs)? He’s saying that I’ve lost the paperwork - but I was never given it and this is what I’ve been left with!

Yes, I’m trying to address each of these issues to him as separate items. There are more! But I’ve kept it to those that are harder for me to understand whether it’s compliant and so I can take a more legal position, as well as the obvious poor worksmanship.

The majority of high integrity boards are supplied with dual RCDs. It would take some effort to find a one with a single bank of RCD protected circuits, unless a local wholesaler happened to be blowing them out at clearance prices....

He obviously worked very hard to get that amount of bare CPC in the trunking under the CU.

I wonder what's on the other end of the two bare phase cables above the RCD? love the choc blocks.
