If you are indeed just wanting to become more knowledgeable about domestic electrical work which you intend to carry out in your own home, then I think this is a brilliant course for you.

If possible try and find a longer domestic installers course, perhaps over a 6 month period at a local college. This gives you time to digest the information and form relevant questions for your tutor. However, the 5 week courses would certainly improve your knowledge of domestic electrical wiring for use at home.

If the intent is to do paid work (which I'm sure it isn't as you have stated otherwise), then I would follow the course up by spending at least a year working with an electrician. You'd still only be scratching the surface of electrical knowledge though, as I found out.
