Please forgive me in asking this same question which normally results in an arguement......lol

I friend of mine needs to have a supply installed (a lighting circuit, a heater circuit and a socket circuit) in a SWISS style log cabin located about 2 metres away from their main home which has a PME system.
The BIG question, Can I used the PME to supply the cabin?...........I wish to use either a 6mm or 10mm 3-core swa for the supply cable, RCD protected of course.

Sorry for this post, just wanted a few thoughts on this particular installation.

A huge thanx for any thoughts guys!!

sorry,
play it safe. cable from c.u. mcb to rcd and mcb feeding tub, earth rod etc. my cert and tests say all's good, i've done duty of care.
if your paying 5000 for hot tubs i can hook you up with some nice second hand units for 4k... lol.

and i wasnt suggesting relying on an rcd for OCP,
i have had mcb glued 'on' cos of pva splash from plasterer.
it was a cheap Chinese mcb and a crap plasterer.

be nice to work in a world where everyone did wat their supposed to eh?

later dude.

4000 is a bit different to your 500 quid, ...don't you think??
You can't glue on an MCB mate, it will trip internally no matter, even if locked in the ON position!!

I give up, your living in cloud cuckoo land!!!

and another thing, what wrong relying on rcd? are mcbs proven to be any more effective/reliable?
EH?....MCBs give you OVERCURRENT protection and are there to protect cables from damage! An RCD is defined as additional protection in BS7671 Part 2 : definitions p(29). This doesn`t apply on a TT of course but as eng has quite rightly pointed out....why use a system that relies on a single device when you can have the whole shebang with a more reliable means of earthing n all........

Nice to know we're playing with a full 53 card deck on here.
