Hi Guys,

I am just changing my plug top oven over & gas hob and noticed the following:

32AMP Breaker > 6MM Cable > Cooker Switch 45a > 4mm cable > Double Socket which powers both.

13a Plug Top Oven replacing the previous same plug top. Gas Hob and just powers the igniter.

Is this right or do i need a sparky in to replace this?

Thanks in advance!

The precise pernickety jobsworth answer is that whether the 4mm is ok between the isolator and the socket depends on the construction of the wall and how the cable is run. The rating for that cable varies between 17.5 and 37 amps depending on this!

BUT In reality you know exactly what the loads are, and they won't be changing once the new oven is installed, and the circuit is perfectly adequate for the loads even in the worst case scenario of the 4mm being surrounded by insulation in a stud wall.
I'm assuming the gas hob has a 3 or 5 amp fuse in the plug.

As far as you are concerned there is a double socket there that you have no reason to believe isn't to regs, so use it!

agree with above. plug and play. once you got the hang of it.let 'erindoors have a go. then you may need an electrician.🤣😘
