Am about to install over 140 jcc fire rated gu10 downlights in a property and am unsure if i need fire hoods aswell?.There is going to 400mm of installation on the top floor and 200mm on the first floor,am concerned about the light overheating.Any thoughts?

you can get a metal plate (box) which fits between joints and the insulation goes over the top
get fire rated fittings i fit them has standard now

god you guys are fast! celetex on second floor but there is about 30mm gap. So fibreglass can be laid straight on top off the downlight?

You will probably struggle with first floor, F/R downlighters need about 80mm clearence, tecnically F/R d/lights still need some amount of free air ventilation from the top.

i always ask for insulation to be cut back either side off the down lighter but this builder doesn't want to do that because he is worried about heat escaping.

good job i carry a 6" holesaw in the van, still concerned about the fibreglass.Even with fire hoods there isn't going to be any air flow.

Thanks Bennie. Yeah I have Oslo microwave sensor 2D type fittings which I was hoping to use. So permanent supply to all this would suffice? Thanks
