As above,

This is a vacant premises where the supplier is charging monthly even though no electricity is needed. They are refusing to cancel the supply.

Is there a requirement to maintain a supplier on a connection, even if it's not in use?

Many Thanks all

Thanks Guys,

No we haven't asked the equipment to be removed, but as the premises could be vacant for a while, thought it could sit there until occupied again.

From what has been said it looks like someone needs to pay as long as the supply is physically installed, even if not in use.

Thanks for the replies all.

Approach OFGEM, I can't see it being legal to charge for a service not being used just because the equipment is present.

Can't see Taylor Wimpey etc being charged by supplier to merely have metering equipment present, same with meters.

If a property is energised and metering equipment is still onsite, standing charge still applies.

Try changing to ebico.
they do a contract with no standing charge .more money per unit but if you’re not using any electric it don’t really matter.
