Do you need to sit 2391-52 if you have sat your ACA and are now an approved electrician

Hi all, do I need to sit my 2391-52 if I have already passed my ACA and became an Approved electrician?

Not too sure what an ACA is. When you say approved Electrician, approved by who or what? In any event, normally level 3 installation I&T is the start point. To do EICR's a 2391/2 is useful if seeking employment of registration with a scheme. Though strictyl speaking not necessary legally or regs wise, just.... Regs do speak of competence seen as experience and education which infers exam passes. The reason for the 2391 is to become recognised as able to do EICR 's Certainly schemes (CPS) will require it. I imagine employers would also require it. However if you have just passed exams and have no real exeperience on the job it is doubtful the 2391 would carry a lot of currency in either scenario. In order to get insured for indemnity (required for condition reports) you would need to demonstrate experience. There is no doubt the acquiry of 2391 is of value going forward in any work environment.

I suppose that means that you would only need to do the 2391-1 then

2391-1 is for inexperienced electricians and is just general domestic testing. 2391-52 is quite new and is a combined initial verification and EICR course and is the one employers will look for.

The ACA consists of the following five sections:

A –Assessment of Safe Working Practices (Risk Assessments)
B – Safe Isolation of Supplies
C – Inspection and Testing
C1 – Initial Verification
C2 – Periodic Inspection and Testing
D – Supervision (Operatives and Installation Work)
E – Underpinning Knowledge Assessment

I don't know this system, but it seems like like apart of the NVQ and AM2
I would say Go for the testing qualifications.
So the 2391-51 is the 2395 periodic inspection
And the 2391-50 is the 2395 initial verification
What makes 2391-52 the full thing , ie both section's.

How long ago did you do your ACA , if wasn't long ago I would go for the 2391-52 while it's all fresh in your mind
