I think I'm right in guessing that most of the grants have stopped long ago when it comes to adding them to your existing property?

So does that mean the solar boom a decade back has fully stopped these days?

Any grants and things to add them to new properties? Or would you just be buying a house with them already on these days, if at all?

I dont think there are any grants nowadays.... although i think Scotland properties can get "green home" grants for any ecological improvements... be that PV, airsource, insulation, double glazing etc.

Ive just been out today for a drive with my 18 year old daughter looking at properties for sale.... Not that shes moving out any time soon, but its good to discuss pro's and con's..... and part of the discussion was "can i put solar panels on there?... can i have battery storage?..... If that cat comes into the garden, can i keep it?

It should be possible to work out, once getting a quote for solar... how long it would take to pay back, considoring you wouldnt be paying for "some" electric during the day.

You may not need a grant, but you can take out a bank loan for home improvements.

Grants (and feed in tariff) were there for initial incentive.... they cant keep them going forever.

Have attached a 2021 study by the government on rooftop solar behavior.
TLDR seems that the motivation is related more to guarantee of installation, financing, and making money from selling to the grid.
This is probably because there is a sample bias of people being able to install these are already independently pretty wealthy or are SMEs who are well established.
