walked into a meeting room at work today and sitting on the table, plugged in was a 5 way extension lead with both 3 pin sockets and 2 pin european sockets.
The sockets are not shuttered, you can see the copper inside and could quite easily get a finger in there, no BS number anywhere on the thing just a nice big made in china stamp. The thing has only just been pat tested last week too.
Do you reckon i should insist this get romoved and destroyed?
The pics dont really show just how exposed the copper inside actually is.

That looks like an innovative idea and probably extremely useful to someone, but like you say if the sockets aren't shuttered it's not up to British standards so shouldn't be used.
I don't know about insisting it's removed and destroyed, but I'd have a quiet word with the facilities manager to point out the flawed design, and possibly question the ability of the person doing the PAT testing.

Looks like it's made to accept the American Nema1 plugs as well which would allow you to plug in a 100v appliance into a 220v supply. It's obviously something that was designed around being universally sellable rather than having safety and compliance in mind.

Never seem one of those before and it looks like just the dab thing for certain applications .(maybe a wee comms cab with routers etc that have been provided with moulded euro plugs and cannot be changed)

I think your pat tester would be busy testing each of those outlets would probably have had to make up a wee dongle for his tester to do so and at the very least if in his considered opinion thought it was fit to remain in service should have fitted kiddy covers to the open "ports" to make them safer.

But for me i would be much happier recommending that it be removed from its current service immediately.
