To be fair, Davis skirting trunking always used to be a pain in the @rse, especially where a partition wall had gone up and the lid could no longer be removed. The surface mounted data point on the bottom L.H.S. of the picture must be an afterthought because outlets used to be mounted on plates which were held on by brackets either side of the plate. Having said that, whoever made that hole in the lid couldn’t have been the brightest kid on the block.:13:

Nice neutral connection

Nice earth connection on the same cable, was just shoved through a hole in the bottom of the mcc.

There aren't any crimps underneath that tape!

A fine example, perhaps, of the future state of metal clad consumer units in damp conditions in years to come? Hmmm - "all rust must be earthed". Ha! Bonkers.

I came across this while carrying out remedial works in holiday cottages. These had been tested a few weeks earlier. Given the all clear. :)
Defiantly a code one..

The only C1 I can see is because you have the cover off and there is a loose line from the controller in the centre a bit close to the earth bar.
The board is a mess and seems to have two supplies, the MCB on the end is a bit odd fed from the supply side.

look a little closer ..

i will give one more guess.

a clue... i got a belt after turning off both isolators

"MCB on the end is a bit odd fed from the supply side." of the main switch
I suppose this is the C1, no ready means of isolation for this circuit.

your right.. the square d board is fed from the top rail, plug in mcbs and main switch etc..

Num nuts fitted a dorman smith breaker and took a 2.5 from the main tail to it.

so when you isolate the board the last breaker is still live.

the worrying thing to me is the guy who tested it thinks its ok..

If I had had a belt of that, I would have stuck my hammer through the lot of it. That would have isolated it alright, back at the sub-station. It would of cause have been a reflex action and I could therefore not be held responsible for it.

what happened, i was going to remove a fused spur so the walls could be tilled, i was the only one in the lodge so just turned off the main switches, i know we should check, but you would think it would be off.

As i got hold of the wires, i did swear a bit.

Lesson learnt for all of us.
