This one is from a handyman. Not a joiner. But someone who can turn his hand to anything….. ok, that hand must have a boxing glove on it looking at this.

Nice custome made cupboard to hide the meter and the consumer unit…..

Unfortunately…. I’m going to have to ask them to remove it….

He should use cabinet hangers, so it could then be simply lifted off.

He should have left it until I was finished.

I’ve still got main bonding to get back to here.

Whole job has been arse over elbow. Customers dad was painting walls before anything had been done

I had one where there lowered the ceiling down past consumer unit.but they could still get in to reset the mcb if a lamp went so that was the most important thing lol

Had a few like that. Or "clad" a wall leaving a nice neat little door just big enough to flip the MCB's.

Had one a little while back where they fitted the unit to the back of a fairly shallow cupboard, but 8' high and in the space above the door opening, so no straight-on access. Absolutely no comfortable position whatsoever to get at it. You just know the conversation was the client had the bright idea to put it "out of the way" and the useless drips cosplaying as tradesmen didn't have the wherewithal to tell them to stop being so utterly stupid.

Out of site out of mind
Builders still want to find the most awkward place for consumer units.the combi boiler has got to have plenty room though cos it runs on gas also a little magic switch that makes it work

Yes, builders love to put the CU in the middle of the house, or my pet hate, high up on the wall above the WC in the downstairs cloakroom at the front of the house. I don't like the cloakroom there either. You ring the bell, you hear the flush, and the homeowner greets you a few seconds later without having had time to wash hands...

There still putting them under the stairs well the last one I seen would have been built in a large scheme in 2022 so planning prob went back years but they put a metal plate on the consumer unit wall and also took the broadband in there and the guy wondered why his WiFi was so crap
