Hi Everyone,
Thank you in advance for your assistance, I"m assuming that having an unenclosed main switch is against the rules ?
Should it be sited within the same Consumer Unit or a separate enclosure ? The Consumer Unit, meter and main switch are housed within a wooden formica cupboard (2nd photograph).
Many thanks for your advice re any necessary changes that need to be commissioned.
Regards, Paul

The consumer unit has been "adapted". The left rcd switch would have been an en60947-3 switch which isolated the whole board. This has been replaced by an rcd so who knows whether this rcd still isolates the lot.

Do ARC electrical still exist?

im struggling to think of a regulation that has been broken here TBH. I suppose it does have a means of isolation, but......

..... don’t like it.
IP rating for one I would hazard a complete guess

Whoever did the initial install of the M/S needs shafting with a prickly stick, preferably without an anesthetic.

Could always put a lock on the cupboard door if concerned about it !
I'm failing to see any real issue with it
What about inquisitive children getting their grubby fingers and the like in the open terminals? not a good idea is it think about it. a bad move in my book , but mind you I am old School and value the safety regulations. fallen foul of the a few time myself, not good seeing a nipper that has stuffed his/her carbon pencil into anun covered terminal with 230 Volts hanging on the ed of the pencil, could you live with it
' I couldn't your choice Mate

So you're saying... if a DNO isolator has been fitted, the CU main switch can be removed by doctoring
Multiple bonuses there, you get 2 extra ways and a main switch you can sell on ebay!

What open terminals?
