I am currently on 14 days self isolation and myself and my son have had possible symptoms of covid.
My job is EICRs in domestic tenanted properties.
what are peoples views on this ?
should i refuse to work ,should i ask for risk assesments and method statements with PPE
it seems daft i cant visit my friends and family yet the goverment think its ok to enter 10-20 properties per week
theres no way you can social distance or avoid touching sockets , switches ,FCU and consumer unit so how can this be done safely?

Is an EICR essential work. Id suggest not in an occupied home. A closed business wanting an EICR done could be the best time to have it done, as it wont cause downtime or disruption to business running. At the end of the day its your safety not just your customers.

its been quite some time now since the thread was started,

did you ever get an updated risk assement and method statement back from them?

I would love to have a read of it, obviously you should blank out names and employer details etc.

No risk assessment has been forthcoming as yet , i have just been told to social distance , instruct tenants to stay in 1 room , to wipe items down with anti bacterial cloths supplied and to ask appropriate questions on the door step before entering property

i did (which is not an easy task) but the test only confirms if you have it now ,the test i would like is the antibody test that confirms you had it in the past, and how the results of the test would change my return to work?

The antibody test doesn't yet exist as far as I know, and as yet there is no evidence to say that you will be immune after having had the disease. You could catch the virus multiple times and it may, or may not, be worse the second/third/fourth time

You can already buy a COVID-19 Coronavirus IgG ANTIBODY Home Test Kit online and the body is immune to that particular strain usually for a lifetime , of course viruses mutate but hopefully we will be able to deal with that by inoculation , as we do for influenza

Perhaps (although they believe that it's likely that there's immunity, at least for a certain length of time). If there isn't then seeking a vaccine would be rather futile.

Can you post a link to this home antibody home test kit.

Can you back up this statement about lifetime immunity with any scientific evidence?
All of the reports I have seen so far say that the level of immunity, if any, is at yet unknown.

A quick bit of research suggests that those tests may be either tests for establishing whether someone has got it, not necessarily for those who have had it.
Or it could be of the type that have been proved to be unreliable in a lot of cases.

I wouldn't trust a home testing kit like that at the moment, and don't really see much of a point to it.
If it is a genuine test and it does prove that you've had it, then what? We're still in lockdown and there isn't any exception for people who have had it. Plus even if you hav ehad it and are immune yourself you can still pick up the virus again and spread it to other people if you do go out.
