Hi guys, I'm not an electrician but after some advice please. I've replaced a few light fittings today but have hit a stumbling block. The kitchen lights existing wiring has 3 main wires going to it, but one of the black wires has been snipped. So I'm left with 3 red, 3 earth and 2 black. Is there anything I could do to rectify?

Its a 2way light switch, (surely the red wire in the common terminal is more likely the live feed). I'd be interested to know if there is just 1 light fitting and 1 switch in the room or does it have 2 light switches controling 1 light? or more.

all depends on how it's been wired. 1 method is to feed the L into C of switch 1 and then the L out is from C of switch2. 2nd method is to feed the Lin to L1 or L2 of switch 1 and the Lout from L2 or L1. both methods are in use. as i said. a spark will suss it in minutes.
