is it not allowable to just go straight into the Downlighter with 1.5mm Cable non Flex?

Fitted some tamlight fire rated downlighters last week in a bedroom. Not too much pain as the loft was accessible. Nice big sturdy connectors on the downlights and cable clamps good too. Wired them with individual lengths of 1.5 before fitting them. Then pushed the 1.5 through the hole first, then the down lights.
Up to the loft, ran all the lengths, clipped, to a big old fashioned circular brown JB which I fixed to a nice accessible postion and ran the old loop into it, once more clipped into positon.

Bit old school perhaps using brown JB and standard 1.5, but to be honest it looked nice and need with all the cables clipped neatly, and wiring the downlights before they went in was alot more comfortable than crawling around in a dirty loft..

Downlights were a bit pricey at about a tenner each, but they looked good, and the quality showed with the standard of the connectors and clamps.. will defo fit them again.
