Downlight holes too big.

Why not just cut a bit of plasterboard in a 95mm circle, pop two bits of batten in the existing hole so they are just visible on two sides of it and secure them with a few drywall screws, then put your new circle into the hole and screw through it into the battens. Voila, now just skim a tiny bit of plaster or even polyfilla over it and when dry, re-drill your holes. OK they'll have to paint it again but it's better than having a whole new ceiling, surely?

All done now nice new IP44 fitting in the middle of the ceiling. Rest of the ceiling is shocking now, but not my problem. Gave them a number of a plasterer in case they want to tidy it up.

Best thing was, the numptys had boxed in the CU with MDF and wall papered. Should of took a picture

I do the same ! cut a strip of plasterboard the same width as hole but 20mm longer then put plasterboard screw in centre then load into hole then pull on screw while putting in a screw through ceiling into plasterboard strip that pulls the strip down tightly to ceiling then skim the shallow hole ! with holes patched in reposition new downlighters.

Or after installing the plasterboard strip theres on reason why you couldnt then remove the center screw and cut a near enough plasterboard disc to screw into the shallow hole using the centre screw hole on the strip then pollycell the tiny gap ! that would work !
