Hello everyone

I was after some advice on how to wire up downlights.

I have 3 downlights that i want to fit with all 3 of them to turn on by one switch.

I have taken down the ceiling rose down from the ceiling in my bedroom and pulled the wires through to the loft and wired them into a 3 way junction box. I have a cable coming from this juction box to another junction box (4 way) with another 3 cables going into this junction box. (1 cable from each downlight). Do you know if i am doing this right? Also i have the switch cable, where does this go?

Thanks for any help

Hi,
Just out of curiosity, have you put all the cables from your ceiling rose together, i.e all the reds together, all the blacks together and all the earths together...or if newer wiring, all the browns together, all the blues together and all the earths together ???

If you have, then you probably have put your switch line in with the permanent feeds or neutrals .
Like Chris says, if you can post some photos, then you will get the best advice,

Good luck and keep us posted,
Sav

Hope your using clay pots or alternitively fire-rated downlights! :)

On a serious note I would give you the same advice as the boys, post some pics. Going by your description the lights are probably looped in at the light but we need to see it to be sure and give you the best advice!

Cheers
