Hi all,

I drilled 2 6mm holes in my kitchen wall. Midway through the second one I realised I was directly under the spur switch for the fridge (also next to a double socket). Whilst the 2nd hole is not a problem, it looks like the first has gone through the conduit. I don't think I've gone through any wires. Everything is working ok and nothing tripped (I have just had house rewired).

I have been reading about arcing though and wondered if I could have a problem?

I have filled the holes with caulk now. Is there anything to worry about esp in terms of fire risk?

Cheers

in your position,i would be inclined to chip out the plaster around the screw hole (with the power to the circuit off) and physically look and see if you've damaged the cable. if not, then fill and done with. if cable is damaged , then it can either be replaced or repaired using crimps.

i had this a few years back when the kitchen fitter managed to drill through the cooker main and fit a dirty great screw through the cable neutral
Course he said nothing at the time, until 2 years later i get a call back that the cookers not working.end result cable burnt back for about a foot up the conduit. oh n welded to the plastic conduit as well.i would get it checked out n not for 20 quid either
