for the above, do you's use a dedicated angle drill or an angled attachment for your cordless drill to fit easily between joists?
 
I have always drilled holes where I thought it was sensible
I'm not too sure if I can do all the mathematics involved in hole punching nowadays

The lucky thing for me is that none of those properties have collapsed just yet

Flat bits are ok but choose ones that will pull themselves through or its just making work for yourself. As for angle attachments: In my eyes there a stopgap arrangement but a dedicated angle drill is safer and more stable.......
