Ooh nice!
Well after yesterday's tax/insurance debacle (the road tax purchasing system in this country is shocking) I have finally got five minutes to have a look at it. So far can only see the power steering problem, a tiny oil drip that seems to be coming from the dipstick, the ciggy lighter doesnt work and the NS door keeps sticking. I have the feeling it's going to be very 'frunch'.

Monkeyman you're breaking my balls here, I literally just turned down an exceedingly cheap 214 which needed nothing but a tiny bit of welding (my lil brother's a mechanic and would have done it for twenty-five pence). Passed it up literally because it's a Rover. Would have had it if I'd seen your post earlier!

Dudes, I'm sorry, but I have taken a Clio. I know you gave me good advice, and I ignored it for the sake of profit (it was soooo damn cheap). It's a 1.9 diesel and it sounds like a tractor!

I think I'm in love with it already.

Thanks for everyones advice, not that I was smart enough to take it. Broom broom!

EDIT: for anyone who may be interested - the clio (1994) has a massive amount of knee-room compared to a Fiesta. If you're a lanky sod it will suit you well.

It will have even more knee room when the floor pan rots out, but by then the dodgy electrics will have gone t*** up anyway and the engine wont work, so at least you will be able to push with your feet to keep it going:D

Best to make sure the cam belt on diesel Clios is changed at the correct intervals,if it breaks the engine may be reduced to a heap of scrap metal.....as I found out.

Renaults start out as a heap of scrap metal anyway, just gets worse if cambelt snaps.

Yabba-dabba-do!

It's waxed up and hoovered and all nice now. Ciggy lighter's working but still havent gotten round to the power steering. My brother's a mechanic and said sometimes they can clean out the PAS pump motor with a blast from the air gun - may be worth a go.
