HI Dave the quote is "My scheme operator recommended fusing down the ring with a upgrade to the BS3871 30A fuse to a modern 10A 600898 type B"
His rational was the newer BS60898 would reduce the risk to the customer in the event of a fault condition. (1mm earth) Whilst not perfect it leaves the property in a safer state than before.
The EICR notes that part of the ringmain is wired in 1.5mm and a C2 condition is present. A cover letter will state what work has been done and recommendations that this needs rectifying ASAP.
Considering he is renting the property out I feel he has a duty of care and responsibility to sort this out. But unfortunately money money is all he is thinking about - shame!!
 
Nothing surprising about that, the plug in MCBs for Wylex boards are still in production and any half decent wholesaler will be able to supply them.

Just that they cost 3 or 4 times that of a modern MCB, and still come with a low KA breaking capacity, that as i remember wasn't much better than the 3036 they were replacing...lol!!
