Hi all,

Just thought I would ask some peoples views on this, how do you all feel about twisting the CPC together then putting the sleeving on all of the cables then connecting it into the earth connector.

I absolutely detest this practice and hate coming across this particular making ammendment to a circuit. As far as I know it is not against any regs but would happily make in the next ammenment

I was taught to twist then together at sockets , cpc at pendents, and in switch back boxes

But this was 30+ yrs ago
I dont like it with regard to testing or fault finding
Nowt worse than finding a load of twisted CPCs in a CCU on ring final circuit testing
I use separate sleeving for every CPC now and dont twist

Don't think there is a reg number to state the CPCs shouldn't be twisted in the back of a socket etc but its good practice not to do it.
Wasn't on about the twisting thing mate, I was questioning the poster who said CPCs MUST be separated in an accessory.
The reason I ask about this is that it is patently an utter load of nonsense, any amount of accessories have only one earth terminal so how are we to separate the conductors if there is nothing to terminate them into?
The questions have, rather unskillfully, been avoided up to now.

Was there ever a reg which said you had to do it? If not then why did you old geezers used to do it other than being taught to do it by some even older geezer? Surely it must have been just as much of a pain in the Gary back then as it is now, so if it wasn't 'compulsory' then why did everyone do it for so long?
