Hi guys,
I am after some advice please,
At collage this week I had a assessment on a circuit I had constructed,
The circuit consisted of
1-consumer unit
1-single socket
4-double sockets
All in 2.5 t/e
No problems with any part of the small installation but the lecturer said I had need not install the earth
Fly leads from sockets to metal back boxes?
Can anyone clarify this for me please as I thought that if for some reason the socket front had been removed from the back box ( say for decorating ) and a fault in the cable ment that the live conducter was
In contact with the back box it would stay live and be very dangerous.
Advice would be great
Cheers

But technically you shouldn't be opening the socket up with the power still on should you, or at least not in college anyway.:biggrin5:

The lecturer is correct, if the backbox has one fixed screw lug, an earth flylead not be installed, albeit good practice IMO.
