On job today at small toruing caravan park entire site is TT
The toruing pitches are newly cabled in last year sometime, the office block wasnt touched, but had been refurbished by MWPS (i think) the previous year A total rats nest in the loft, with cables cut and just left floating.
The site distrubtion shed (local Earth Rod) feeds the office block as well as everyting else, into a CU, with local earth rod, upon testing, get a good 10 Ohms with cable connected to CU, testing with cable alone, no reading, the cable leaves the cu through the wall down into the concrete and under slabs and tarmac and into the earth rod pit, No continuity and the clamp on the rod is broken.
Am I correct in telling client that the local earth cable and rod clamp require fixing so as not to have to rely on the other earth rods around the site, or can this one be disconnected ( I am going with fixing the local rod arrangement).
On another note, the CU in the office block also feeds another CU for the boiler room via 10mm cable off 50A MCB, they just left the bare earth lying in the CU whilst running a 10mm separete earth alongside the cable.
How do you peeps tidy up redundant cables, for example, a few of the switches have cables running up from them into the loft space, and just left floating, I can disconnect them from the switch but cannot pull the cables up the wall and dispose of them, must be pinned to the wall or stuck somehow, how do you terminate them in the switch, do you cut them off right at the inlet or do you terminate the cables and leave cluttering up the switch space.
