bugsy

The flower pots are finshed so question, we have 12v /230v intervters in the vans feeding 13a s/o to chagre the batt drills on and run a p.c. the move , should i install earth spikes:D

You could just put one of them little flappy things that you put on the back of your car in the 80s. They protected you from lightning strikes, you know.

I haven't thought of that, you can run a pc and charge the drills and have a kettle? I'm presuming the van needs to be running at least when you're boiling a kettle, no? May do one of them myself.....

presumably these (large) inverters are connected directly to the battery.

What is the largest you can plug into the cig lighter? (I seem to think 300W)

Battery chargers say they draw 1A so approx 2300W, sounds a lot (like a 10kw shower draws 43A). What is the smallest inverter you have used to charge the 18V batteries?

Noice.

Made egg sarnies for all the lads on a job on my last day (under an a-hole gaffer) a few years ago.

It was july. He had a (very pretentious) black fetish, and that included his van.

Yep that's right, done the eggs on his van bonnet! Used a silicone spatula, absolutely no damage to the van whatsoever, but he threw his toys out of the pram and threw my toolbox in a cement mixer. No sense of humour.

I got access to the site the following monday and set some nice damp bags of concrete on top of his wheels. 12 hour day, baking sunshine - I'd imagine he'll need new arches at the very least......

Ang on a minute - 1A at 12V is 12W isn't it? Or have I just ha dtoo much to drink tonight (I know the answer to that question already by the way)

just looked at my post and to a degree i have answered my own question 1Ax230V=230W so to charge a 18V drill battery I need say a 300W inverter.
(similarily an 800W drill will draw 800/12=66A from the poor car/ van battery, that is why I want to know what size needs to connect directly to the battery since these are big currents and I am sure car/van electrics aren't ment to cope with his on a regular basis.

My real question is still how big an inverter can you plug directly into the cig lighter?
