Western Power arriving soon. Said they will charge to upgrade earth to Tncs from TT. Is this right. Thought it was free. Typing fast.. sorry for poor grammar.

Round our way NPG charge ÂŁ165 for a PME head put on in place of a 100 year old cast iron head. They will do it for free if the old head is damaged and dangerous though. A new spliced connection from the street would be extra again.

It depends on the network conditions in the area, they may need to make other adjustments, but the likelihood is that they just need to connect neutral and earth at the service head as the rest of the supply will be PME anyway.
They can usually do it for free but are a law unto themselves for charges.
It certainly shouldn't be expensive in most cases, and possibly worth talking to the guy on the ground when he is there and see if he will set it up as he is making changes anyway:38:.

So some sort of hitting implement onto head.............would warrant a free upgrde Hippy

I can't possibly be held responsible for any drawn inferences or hidden subtext in my comments that I am unaware of.

Hitting implement indeed. If you were going to pursue that line of action you'd have to be a lot more subtle and inventive.

I have decided not to hit the head! :smiley2:

They ended up saying that they would do it for free, so everyone was happy. :smiley2:

Of course they are now going to move the supply outside so that has me starting a new thread!

I'm assuming the cable will have to be cleated well to hold it in place anyway, as a stuffing gland ain't going to hold it tight like a SWA gland...

You would treat it as a TT installation.
