earthing

Hi
the DNO has installed an isolator in my property and at the same time diconnected the earth (system is TNCS) what is the correct way to get an earth back as i want to install a new CU and dont want to be ripped off by an electrician or fed wrong information.thanks to all that reply

if the DNO has dissed the earth, you need to find out from them- WHY? was it a connection made incorrectly? do you have PME ?etc. it may be that someone has connected the earth conductor to the service head when PME is not present. i which case you may have to convert to a TT system. if a forum member is close to you, he/she could advise by seeing the installation.

he put in an isolator, and then said dont use with a temp feed (as we have no sockets in the house now except a few sockets on a temp feed) should be using an earth spike?

ah, the mud clears. you should have an nearth rod/stake and a RCD supplied temp supply .

its going to have a new CU with RCDs and mcbs for about 10 circuits (split board), western power informed me 5mins ago its a TNS system!!!??? i said i thought the earth was dissed,never mind wrong property god knows. there is also no PME.
