earthrod depth

HI all,
Ive just recently completed a new rewire on a domestic property that is a tt system my question is this the earth rod i have installed is three feet long but i can only get about 2 feet of the earth rod in to the ground as all the places i have tried to place it the ground are solid my reading is 90 ohms wich is ok and i cant find anything in the regs that states earth rod depths your thoughts on this please

as you say the reading is ok just cut the top off and put a pit or similar round the stake to protect it

Thanks for the replies will do just wanted to ask the question as ive never had trouble fitting an earth rod before
