ECS Card

Hi All,

I have the following qualifications:
17th Edition, Part P, PAT and have passed the ECS Health and Safety Assessment.
I have never worked as or have been paid for working as any kind of electrician, but my plan is to get work as either an electricians mate or labourer on construction sites.

I am just about to fill in the application to send off for my ECS card and from what i read i only need to fill in Sections 1-3 and sign the declaration on section 13.

No where on the form do i need to enter my qualifications.

How do they decide from such little information what card to give me? I believe that i should get a labourers card...is this true?

Are you using the correct grading form from the JIB?

Section 5 shows qualifications such as NVQ 3, 2391 etc.

Section 6 asks which grade you are applying for and section 7 is employers/sponsors endorsements.

are you applying for the cscs card? or the cscsecs card, but to your point , with the quals listed they would give you a labourers card possibly trainee if you are currently in any form of training

The sections you mentioned are slightly different to the ones on this form.

Can you please give me the link to the form you are looking at?

I am not currently training.

not sure what you are missing the form clearly states what quals are required for grading and think you are correct labourers card only requirement 18+

are you a electrician?
if not you can get a part p card if a member of napit/nic etc
not sure what grading you will get for jib card with just part p ,17th .

There isn't one, it has been stated that many times by different people it is NOT a qualification but a

BUILDING REGULATION

You need to fill the whole form in and send an copies of your qualifications orit willbe returned to you

I am telling you now in the nicest possibly way!!!

The ecs card will be graded electrical labourer,

even with your qualifiications they do not put them on a labourers card and that is all you will be entitled too!!!!

thats true Damon ,if you havent got your NVQ 3 then in the JIB or cscs card scheme your not a qualified spark,if you have the 2391 cert you get an approved card,thats what we all want to get to one day

That's right twodds and once yourve all got your JIB cards you can all go and work for IQ Electrical and he will train into Engineers

Lol had a right go at the JiB, Having spent 1 year at college and leaving with a load of qualifications I applied to get regraded from Electrical Labourer to Improver, I was turned down and they took my fiver and sent me a new labourer card without my hard earned qualifications on the back....."We dont put quals gained on labourers card,...WHY NOT I ASKED?........We just dont was their reply....
I applealed at the decision and because I was going back to college on Adult Apprentice schem they gave me Trainee Stage 2 but in the Eyes of the JiB I was nothing without the NVQ 3 which I was enrolled on....So Its gonna take another 2 years to get Jib Gold Card and thats not even approved card just basic gold installer card........I honestly hate the JiB.....
