EIC Form

Hi Everyone

Sorry if this is a very basic question, but when fitting a fused spur off a ring main say for lighting, fans etc, what to you put for over current device the 32A Mcb or the 3A plug-top fuse. also if you are runnin say some lights and a fan off same 3A fuse do you record R1+R2 from either the lights or fan which every is the highest.

Many Thanks

OCD for the cct. E.g breaker/fuse
As for r1+r2.
Test every point record highest. Make sure switches are switched to test polarity and strappers on 2w switching.

I would disagree.

Look at it this way, say for instance you spurred off the RFC via a switched fused connection unit to supply an outside light using 1.0mm t&e. When filling in the MEIW cert, you would insert 1.0mm for the cable size and, 32A for the overcurrent device. Doesn't quite add up in my eyes.

IMO, as you are only certifying your addition, the overcurrent device in the above scenario would be the BS 1362 fuse in the spur as it is this that is the primary device for your addition.

I always worked to what it says on the eic. I see what your saying though Lenny.
I.e circuit description.
On a mw cert I see you could do as you said. But on eic it is taken you are adding a whole cct.
I should have thought and said why do a eic when not adding a cct
Lol!

Hi Rich

To add lights & a fan from a S/F/S as I'm not going back to the board a MWC should be ok? I know its a bit of a grey area if I was to say add a couple of extra socket outlets I would Use a MWC but in the case I've of lights and a fan I thought I should complete a EIC what do you think.
Many Thanks

always a grey area here as regards OCPD. the schedule of test results asks for " details of the modified circuit", and that circuit is the RFC with OCPD of 32A.
