Hi,
I've got a wee job to do in an office in town for which the landlord is requesting a nic cert.
The office in question is currently (power) supplied via a 6mm(45amp fuse at origin).It feeds a 4way rewireable fuseboard supplying 4 radials.My job is to relocate some sockets and install another few(maximum extended distance 2metres).I have also been asked to install a socket for a coms cabinet and one for a kettle.My thinking is to change the 4way rewireable to a 6way consumer unit c/w main switch-rcd,and install the 2 new circuits(again only 2m runs).There will only be office equipment so I don't see a problem with loading(though ideally I would like to install a new submain)but its a bit of a nightmare run getting to the main board. I am intending to issue an EIC to include all 6 circuits.(the heating is by storage heaters supplied from main board and not part of my remit.) I have also been asked to replace the existing fluorescent lighting with new ones with VDU compatable louvres.The lighting is supplied on a separate circuit back to the main board(1.5T&E) My query here is where my responsibilities lie concerning this existing lighting circuit to which I am not adding on to but just changing fittings......does this need to be on the EIC or would it be best to issue a separate Minor works cert for this.Also as this existing lighting circuit has cables tracked into wall for light switch am I
obligated to give it 30ma rcd protection?...All the lighting to this and another bunch of offices are all fed from an old rewireable 24 way fuseboard.
