EICR - C2 on kitchen/bathroom/lounge lights

Hello,

An EICR unsatisfactory is claiming all the lights are not fire rated and "do not comply BS7671 too".

Can be classified as C2 if they are not fire rated?

if it's a house with a single family, (no flat above), and if the ceiling is not a fire barrier, then fire rated are not necessary, altough desirable. C3 at worst.

But is it classed as a fire ratted ceiling normal not require in a single dwelling such as a house . If the cieling is just single 8mm plasterboard then it is not a fire barrier. Then fire ratted down lights are not required . If there is a flat above then it may require to be fire ratted

I might code them in a bathroom if within zones as to regards their IP rating, but nothing to do with fire rating.

The report should theoretically have enough information for someone else to fix it - does it say how many lights, or where, and how they do not comply with (presumably) BS7671 ?

It's an upper flat. The lights are in bathroom(8), kitchen(6), lounge(6), landing(3), bedrooms(4). It doesn't mention why they don't comply, there is only an extra note with "lights have signs of over heating surrounding"

The lights actually tested are 3 in the kitchen, 2 bathroom, 2 hallway, 2 bedroom and 2 lounge

Are you saying there are other flats on the same floor, additionally I was asking is there a common loft area, if so the ceiling may be a fire barrier.

I would say add rcbo to the lighting circuit, this will provide adequate protection.
