You say it is 4 core MICC but with this it is not possible to install as a single phase ring since you would need three cores for each leg (unless you are using the sheath as common cpc, and then the terminations would be a nightmare to create a ring). Is it actually a ring in one cable or is it run as two parallel cables creating each leg of the ring?
If you are only using two cores as live conductors then that cable is rated as 2 core cable which would be 28A and it would need to be at least 27A for a 30A BS3036 ring so would comply.
If it is parallel cables then you have no problem.

Cable sheath is CPC and it is a possibility if you crimp through and return.
 
Which code would be considered appropriate for a ring circuit protected by a 30A rewireable fuse wired in 4 core 1.5mm2 MICC cable installed to method C. Circuit consists of 12 double sockets serving a large chapel area in a church dating to approx 60 years. I have put a code 2 for insufficient current carrying capacity...thoughts on this?

As far as i remember, the standard size for an MICC ring circuit has always been 1.5mm (or it's imperial equivalent). BTW what's installation method ''C''?? Never really followed MICC current ratings to the letter, they are capable of safely carrying so much more in certain conditions. I know of an old electrician that often wired ring circuits this way, using the staggered ring connection method. Can't see a problem with it myself!!

I'm a bit confused with the statements in you're post #14 with having 3 X 4 core MICC cables in some back boxes etc, so without being able to do my own assessment of this installation i'll not comment further. Seems to have been more than adequate for it's purpose for the last 60 years from what you say, though 1.5mm metric MICC hasn't been around that long, so is it a mixture of the old imperial size and metric??
