They essentially come from the same place, ECC and Federal Electric are associated companies.

It looks pretty much the same board
Yes just been looking at ECC, they are a very old company from the late1800s but it seems two associated companies were set up later the other being Federal Electric. Different factories but a stones throw from each other.

Well this board isnt quite 1800s, but the ways are marked with the phase colours of red white and blue so it's not too recent.

There's a board next to that one with an ECC MCCB which I think is original to the installation which is probably 1960's, complete with big VIR tails still feeding it.

yes the board is old and if it was my property id upgrade the db. I cant see by just looking at the board any reason why it should be condemned. are there any other issue's. its metal clad its earthed not a neat install but were is it dangerous.

I don't condemn anything, I report on what I have found giving codes as appropriate. If the customer asks me to then I will make recommendations and quote for remedial works.

That board and the others in the room, and the circuits fed from them, will be having various items coded C2 and C3, my recommendation will be to replace the boards as that is, in my opinion, the most sensible way to proceed. Replacing the boards will also work best with other remedial works required across the site.

Just back from a week away (not Spain - catching up with family in the UK)

Davesparks, I know this was a while ago (possible distance memory now) but was wondering what your final findings were for this place, and if you would be willing to share them with us? Really interested to see how you code stuff, especially anything you come across that you debate with yourself on how best to code it (if to code it at all). Thanks.

I see these kind of boards all the time and to be honest I don't like them but often can't find any reason to fail them. Most times even a C3 is a waste of time as it will be ignored. I know that because I often get to see 15 or 20 years of test sheets for a job. If the rest of the installation tests through ok and the response times are met by the devices, with all the usual provisos, there's nothing to be said.
I agree with the poster who mentioned the photos. We try and snap everything, compliance, fault or not. It doesn't half help when the reports are prepared. It's easy to miss a figure out here or there or cock a CSA or breaker rating up when you are on a site with over a hundred boards.

When I used the Certsure on line software for certs, they had an option to upload photos. Never did EICR’s, but uploaded pics, e.g. for say when I added mcb’s to existing CU, before and after.

It was a bit cumbersome, pics were full size image. But guess things will improve.
