Thanks High Tower, frustrating is not the word for it. I think I'm getting miserable in my medium age!

I'm watching some meters on flea bay but may just go for a new one as it needs to last. I own a insulation and loop meter but need a rcd. For the price difference I thought it would be better to go with a mft and keep the others as spare or sell towards the new meter fund. I've got my PI sorted but am waiting on edf to put a tns supply in my house I've just bought. I've rewired, plumbed plastered tiled etc etc. And am going to use this for my assessment. Think I'll be going to my jobs on a bicycle at this rate. Once I've got some work in I'll get my own van and hopefully break away from my firm. Then they can keep their tracker and meters. Happy days!

I'm with elecsa, i was told that i didnt need to have test equipment, it was OK to borrow, hire or whatever, as long as on the day it was calibrated, i had the certificate, and i knew how to use it. 2 years ago my MFT packed up a week or so before assessment, i borrowed my mates. the assessor saw the same MFT twice in a week. no problems.

Cheers.......Howard

I was thinking along same lines as Howard
If your a small firm employing say 3 guys each would need their own test gear?? IMO so long as there is test gear available to use then shouldnt matter
Old firm i was with got kits for £50 Socket n see seperates bundled as 16th edd Kit sold off by wholesalers for £50 per kit a few of the guys got one
try tes-meters the forum sponser they have some good deals IMO wait till the new meggers out as there will probably be a sell off on the 155x range then
