Electric Cable running across Garden

Looking for a bit of advice.
I live in a flat and the upstairs neighbours had an unarmoured electric cable running from their house down the property wall and across my pathway. I asked them to look at it as live and unarmoured and they got someone in who has put armoured cabling in directly from their flat to their shed. The new cable now runs through the air across my garden and is a complete eye sore. Would the electrician fitting it have assumed they had saught my consent before installing this new cable and can iI ask them to remove it?

In this case I would say burying it at a minimum of 600 mm is the only way forward.....

Hopefully an electrical issue will cause your neighbours shed to burn down, problem solved.

Via an ugly great big eyesore of a cable running down the OP's wall which she will then complain about and ask to be moved once the neighbour has paid for it.

First of all mate, I'm not getting at you in this post. It's more of an 'informative' post, cause I was curious myself.

You mention that the depth of the cable should be a min of 600mm.
I was curious where this was mentioned in the regs.

705.522. (i) - "Agricultural and Horticultural Premises" section
708.521.1.1 - "Electrical Installations in Caravan / Camping Parks and similar location" section

In 709.521.1.7 - "Marinas and Similar Locations" it does mention a depth of 0.5 m.

If I've missed one that is relevant to houses then I apologise, but I couldn't find one.

I think you will find that Paw Patrol is a better model to follow..

IIRC the depth and height data last put in an appearance in the regs. in appendix 11 at the back of the 15th.
I'm of the opinion, that once a reg., then always a reg., unless updated or superceeded, or obviously no longer applicable.

As above, there are regs for certain locations. Otherwise the applicable reg would be 522.8.10. Which is basically a risk assessment of the location of the cable.

So shred that appendix of your 15th. it no longer applies.

Have copies of the 14th (what a nice little tome that was - A5 in size, about 15mm thick, and actually readable!), the 15th (red), 16th and 17th. Along with Tony Cable, I probably won't bother with the 18th, for the same reasons as him.
The 15th gives the buried cable depth as 600mm, or as deep as necessary, in ground that is likely to be disturbed, IIRC. Risk assessment was required, even if the term hadn't been heard of then.
I'll make an attempt to scan the cable height table and upload it sometime, although that will be pushing my computing skills to their limit.
