What is a typical loading for double electric gates? Any particular requirements required? It will be RCD protected and wired in SWA. Better on own circuit or off ring circuit?
Cat 5 required at all?

From the info given I can only say I'd put them on a dedicated supply mate. As far as the rest of it goes it's how long is a piece of string.
It'll all be in the MIs, cat 5 is almost certain because there'll be some sort of intercom

Never done gates before..........yes agree best on own circuit, that not a problem. Like every thing with this love job, first fixing for all these various items but owner has no idea of what the actual item will be. The same with separate oven and induction hob..........So if in doubt, I'm going to put in 2 x 10mm cooker circuits.

trust me on this, install a bit of ducting for the gate, you will thank me later.

install a proper duct, travis etc stock them
it might be worth using swa cat5, less chance of it going down.

if you dont use ducting and/or swa cat5 and it goes down it willcbe fun digging it up to joint/replace it

Why, .....is the kitchen a 100m from the CU or something??
I think you've gone way overboard there, especially as in most cases a single 6mm/32A circuit will
suffice!!

Actually your right of course.. my original thought was a 10mm to cover myself for both induction hob / oven on 1 x circuit or 2 x 6.0mm and wire them separately. Owner requires 10mm T&E anyhow for AHSP so getting a 50m drum. Save getting both 6mm and 10mm. Ahh well

The actual circuit is some 20m from CU........cables will be completely encased in insulation between floors, so on the plus side when cable running a fair amount of current it will not get too hot. But yes possibly gone over the top.

Thanks for advice......yes will be in ducting. I tend to use Polyduct from Jewsons or the larger double wall rib ducting that just slots together.
Good shout about SWA cat 5 cable though. I was unaware that it even existed. what did sparks use in the past for intercom etc years a go?
