Electric shocks from a light switch in the kitchen due to humidity, condensation

Considering upgrading to pull-cord or water resistant wall switch. Heard those European style switches are safer due to different design (better sealing due to bigger surface area of the rocker).
The shock was felt stronger than ever before because of the humidity and water condensation on the walls.
Last time RCD tripped after 30 minutes of buzzing in the cooker socket (conductive parts too close to screw terminals).

Sounds like someone is just trying a cheap fix rather than sorting out a serious damp problem.

Sounds like one of them meth labs they get in the states, the humidity from making the gear is so bad it releases dangerous chemicals into the walls and often requires the house to be replastered. Assuming it doesnt go bang first!

Rather than sort the electrics out you need to sort out the condensation issue.

The level of condensation you have sounds very excessive and will be affecting the fabric of the building.

Treat the problem not the symptoms.

What sort of light is it switching ? It's possible the contacts are worn and an arc is escaping when the switch is operated.

Ok , this isn't normal so my best advice would be get a good electrician in to investigate and rectify.

Right okay, will have to ask landlord. Last time one of their electricians tried to repair a BS1361 fuse using a wire.

I'll take this into consideration. The fume extraction fan has been replaced by undersized one on a crumbly piece of plasterboard.
