Hi guys,

I put a brand new electric shower into a house last week as the other one wasn't sending out any hot water (I assumed the element or thermostat had gone).

Anyhow, I fitted a new Triton 8.5kW shower and tested it - no problem, working lovely.

Customer rings me today saying that the shower is only giving out cold water!!

Any ideas??

my nan had the answer to this problem years ago. dirty children-- hose pipe in the garden. clean kids. no huge electric bills.problem solved. simple!

FYI guys - the customer had turned down the stop cock to nearly closed due to the high mains water pressure in the area (9bar). This does not influence the pressure coming through to the plumbing fixtures but does obvioulsy alter the flow (two very different things). Therefore, the shower wasn't operating properly as the flow was not sufficient to it (hence the low pressure light didn't come on on the shower because the pressure was fine).
I'm fitting a PRV (pressure reducing valve) on the mains water coming in the house tomorrow which I'm sure will solve the problem, as they can then increase the flow from the stop cock.
That's for your inputs and hope this may help in the future.

Nice one glad its sorted , have to admit i will only fit Mira showers these days ,a tad expensive but once fitted you can forget about them and when they do go wrong you can get parts easily and are very easy to change too
