Hi all

New here so all this pc stuff don't come naturally with me, antway i'm a fair dab at the D.I.Y caper but
all this 17th ed part p caper gets me a tad.
If i install a shower and run cable from c unit to shower but leave the wire free to be connected bye a registered
sparky is this permitted and would i get the certificate afterwords ?

No certificate needed for disconecting and if cooker and fan like for like and installed onto existing outlets no certificate required.

Why do you ask, was there a problem with the cooker/fan?

If old circuit still in place this may be a different kettle of fish, install new shower and simple mw certificate for like for like change/test?????

It does sound however like you have old wylex fuseboard so it may be prudent to RCD protect your old circuit?

yes it is the old wylex fuseboard and with the wire fuses, reason about the cooker is when i was looking for stopcock for water , i noticed some cable on the floor, this cable was to the cooker and not buried or in conduit.
I've told nephew to get a qualified sparky in to check his wiring, there is a RCD at the top of stairs but thats only one i can see.

Nephew has decided he wants to have a mixer shower now instead of electric, the one he has seen is thermostatic
and combi system compatible , my question is would there be sufficiant water pressure for shower from pipework
in the comi system on shower info it says minimum 0.1 bar - max 0.5 bar, how do i test pressure of water or is
this somethingf for a pro ?........i've posted this on plumbing section too but might get help here too

You can buy a water pressure tester for about ÂŁ15 if i remember correctly dare i say it B & Q or Screwfix do them ! they have a dial on the end of flexy pipe and a screw end on the other ! (can be adapted for pushfit) water pressure should be ok but if slightly low an old trick is replace the 15mm copper pipe as far back as you can get to with 22mm pipe and use a reducer just before terminating into shower ! that will boost pressure a bit but if needed fit a shower pump or go for a power shower.
