I’ve seen loads of sockets, switches and fused spurs on landings. Must be pretty spectacular skirting? Just saying.
It's his house, an he is the one paying for it.

Course it is, just don’t understand why some get in a pickle about a two inch square thing?
Each to their own. Annoys me when I walk past a socket that wasn't fitted level in my office.

This may have been the concern of your electrician. The proximity of non-electrical services is a concern when sited close to cables. 528.3 in 17th.which we've been using as an access void for various pipes/gas runs etc
