I'm sure Acrobat 9 will do this assuming the file doesn't have security setting the prevent it. When you try to save the edited file have you given it a different name?

Yes tried all the usual tricks, maybe the version for mac is slightly different to windows?

Yes sorry, I don't know how to make it larger.
If I save it as a PDF, it is editable.
If I print it as a PDF, it is not editable.
I've tried saving it as a PDF/A, PDF/E PDF/X, as A reduced size PDF and as a certified PDF.
Either they don't work, there's an error message, or the file is still editable.
The only thing that works to make it not editable is to print it.

Hmmm, I (ahem) obtained a copy of the X pro version, I still get the error message when trying to print as a PDF, or it brings up the print server then closes but does not save a copy.
Really weird it wont do it, I will check again later.

right guys. i tried to sort mine over the weekend without success. i'm using the 'free' adobe reader x on windows vista. maybe you have to buy the full software to be able to lock it.
for now i've reverted back to the old fashioned way of giving the customer sheets of paper ( ahh that takes me back).
oh yeah, you'd never believe i was only 36!!!!

Can't get on with Macs, no right click.
My dad has an iMac, with Lion on it, but he only has CS3.4 or something.
Don't know what acrobat he's got, but I doubt that it's X.
I'll ask him to have a look.

Edit:
I've been told, that with some versions of Acrobat, a PDF print driver is required.
