found new boiler wired in flex No problem if it has been installed correctly, no 10mm earth Why would a boiler need earthing with 10mm cable?, no rcd No specific requirement for a boiler to be RCD protected., no carbon detectorNot an electrical requirement and no test certificateAn electrical cert wont be required if the boiler was simply a like for like replacement for an existing,it would be required if there was alterations or additions to the wiring. plumber says its fine ha help any regulations please thanks

Wow, am i missing out on something, i wire up lots of boilers and heating systems for 2 different heating companies and the only thing i do on that list is a minor works afterwards

do you have to start installing co detectors now? Thought that was only with log burners

no 10mm earth?, i dont even crossbond the pipework nowadays

and i dont rcd protect them either...........might have been one of my jobs

Flex is suitable for fixed wiring so long as the regulations are adhered to.
Main equipotential bonding is required to extraneous metalwork such as metal gas and water incomers (not boilers) (section 54 of BS7671)
522.6 specifies the requirements for RCD protection to cables buried in the wall at a depth of less than 50mm, however this is not apparently relevant to your query as this is a boiler not a cable.
Inspection and testing of new fixed wiring is required as specified in 134.2 and appendix 6, again not relevant unless there were new fixed wiring.
Scottish building regulations will require a CO alarm to be fitted when a gas boiler is installed from October this year but this is not applicable at the moment you are two weeks too early.

Even if it's a Room Sealed Appliance - which most are???

Sorry - just asking as I am a bit out of touch now.

Sorry not too sure, it seems like it and the S gov guidance states:
However, from 1 October 2013 Scottish building regulations require carbon monoxide detectors to be fitted when a new or replacement boiler or other fixed heating appliance is installed in a dwelling. The need for carbon monoxide detection applies to any fixed heating appliance powered by a carbon based fuel, that is, gas (both mains and liquid petroleum gas), oil and solid fuel (coal, coke, wood, wood pellets, etc.).

I would not be fitting boilers in Scotland (or anywhere) so unfortunately I am not likely to check much further!
