Interesting article in the Daily Telegraph business section last Thursday about why everyone has backed out of building nuclear stations in the UK, including the Chinese. No one will do it without a guaranteed subsidised price for the life of the station. Point of the article was to say cost of build should be subsidised as that was where the majority of costs were. It did however overlook the costs of decommissioning. (currently costing each bill payer in the UK about ÂŁ230.00 a year on an ongoing basis. Renewables subsidy large and small scale ÂŁ6.00).

Oh - I should have added that the lovely machine in the earlier picture can almost-silently launch a lump of lead of sufficient accuracy to land into a rabbit's, rat's or other small vermin's brain (less than 2cm target area) at distances out to about 40yards, in total darkness.

Are you threatening me ? :p

good question. Only one way to be sure, put FB within 40 yards of him and aim for the brain.... ah, I see the flaw in that plan.

Liquid air -190 deg c could pose a few problems for domestic and light commercial solutions, but probably way safer than Hydrogen production as I can well testify to in my junior years!!!! Seems to be a lot of new green ideas coming forward and most look good, suppose as black outs and price rises loom, they will become more popular and sought after....

If you're eating my fruit, veg, nuts - or chewing through my PV cables 'cos you're bored - then I might have to. Not much goes to waste, though; skinned, gutted and ending up one someone's dinner table even if not mine.:66:

having had a large bowl of alpen for breakfast, beans with lunch and beans with dinner, washed down with a bottle of real ale, I might have found the solution to the energy problem.
Wind farm and gas production in a single self contained (semi)mobile unit:drunk:

^^ Did anyone else watch Kevin McClouds Man Shed thing last night? Cooking and power from poo?
Given the quantity of poo produced each year I dont think this is such a silly plan - methane powered generating station. We already have a plant nearby that processes waste (domestic) to power a small generator. Bit smelly though at times.
