votage applied 500v dc
minimum test value 1.0 Mohms

for a circuit tht has serge protection and cant be disconnected
is it test between line and neutrel conductors connected together and test between earth?

Test the same but voltage of test can be dropped from 500v to 250v BRB 612.3.2 page 158. Where anything on a circuit may give a false reading I always test live and neutral on one clip earth on the other. and yes 1meg
