I have a small camper. When connected to shore power my receptacle tester shows "Correct" (two orange lights). However, when running on my solar generator's (a Jackery Explorer 1000 v2) inverter it shows as "Hot Neu. / Reverse". Is this expected or is there something amiss? If something is amiss then what needs to be done to correct it? (Note: AC appliances seem to be operating without issue when on inverter power.)

Thanks,

It may be that when not connected to shore power, there is no ground connection and therefore the tester has no zero volts reference to measure the voltages on either hot or N.

often small inverters like that are designed to run independently to Earth,
an earthing arrangement known as I.T (Isolated "from" Terra)

careful consideration of the manufacturers instructions is required to ensure this is a safe arrangement as sometimes a N-E link should be applied, sometimes a ground rod is required, sometimes the device is only suitable for running a single device and should not be used to power a distribution circuit at all.

...sometimes a ground rod is required...
The camper was designed to run on an inverter, so the equipment should be okay. But for safety, grounding wouldn't be a bad idea. In most of the places I camp, driving a copper rod into the ground 6" wouldon't be a problem. Deeper might be. Is the solution as easy as splicing a 12 ga. wire into the ground wire and running it out to a copper bar?

The solution is to read the instructions and follow the guidance.
Sorry if this sounds like a get out.

Thank you. I looked further into transfer switches and that will indeed work for me, and I'll only need one. Perfect. Thanks again.

Thanks again. Looking into it, it seems that the breaker panels in U.S. homes pretty much all employ 15-amp C-curve breakers for the 15-amp...
