Just a quickie I've been selected to be an electrical supervisor for my firm I work for what are my exact roles and should I ask for more money.

Supervisor means taking on responsibility!

Supervisor responsibility means the buck stops at you if something goes wrong, great job as long as the company has a good reputation and good safety rating.

Does the company let you make new rules and correct problems as they arise?

I personally would ask for more money - I wouldn't be happy with being on the same rate as the installers as your directly responsible for them.

Were not exactly a big company 5 of us i need to know what will be my role as a qs, I'm guessing running around jobbing making sure everything is satisfactory so it can free up someone to sit at the office hoping to do the office stuff

just a foreman in old money,id expect a bit more but nothing exciting,at least you get to tell me people to do the crap jobs instead of doing them yourself.which can be worth its weight in gold/or copper if theres plenty of cut off's:smoking:

Ask for more money mate, trust me you will be working harder from your head than your hands. The buck stops with you in most cases, quality of workmanship, timescales and paperwork all need to be at the highest level not forgetting h&s.

A lot of people on here know a lot more than me about being a QS, take note of everything they say, its a different ball game so to say but you know it all by now, just need to apply it. Good luck and I hope you get a decent pay rise.

why would a foreman need an assistant, what ive always found in old money again, the foreman was a top spark, the best on site, they were also a bit mad and tough, watching the arguing and nearly coming to blows with other trade foremans was a laugh when i was an apprentice, doesnt happen enough in these pc days, delegating i think its called now.

Role as a QS? No idea on that one. Supervisor... Check exactly what's involed in the job. What, if any, extra responsibilities you'd be taking on, and then discuss.
