This thread is now closed, the poll has been created here: http://www.electriciansforums.co.uk...ctrical-suppliers-electrical-wholesalers.html - feel free to add more electrical suppliers and electrical wholesalers to the new thread, we'll keep this old one closed.

Would like to get a poll running on this but need all the options first.

So could you all list the main three companies you use, online and / or offline. Doesn't really matter.

If you want to, give a short reason why.

I'll then collate the results in a week or so and create a poll so we can get voting for the most used electrical suppliers by our forum members.

Cheers

Dan

TLC 70%
CEF 15% and dropping
Electricfix 10%
Nearest available 5%
CEF are a nightmare got charged ÂŁ18.56 for a 6ft tube!!!!! I had a word and got credited and never get constant prices paid ÂŁ32 for a light fitting one time and invoiced ÂŁ56 a week later for the same thing, had another word and got credited. I don't have time to spend checking everything so only using when I have to now.

1. Holland House (on my doorstep, friendly/helpful)
2. Screwfix (pre-order online so I know they'll have it when I arrive, also my no. 1. for tools)
3. Numerous others, online/offline for things the above can't get

Interesting that others don't like CEF - I find them pricey (though I haven't used them since opening an account), sometimes have poor service, and sometimes even sell distinctly dodgy stuff.

As for B & Q they are the only place I know of where I can walk in and buy a 3 gang socket. That's pretty much the only electrical thing I buy from them, though I do buy other bits and pieces from them.

Used QVS a couple of times when I first started but found their chosen courier appalling so never again.

Edmundsons 80%
Newey & Eyre 10%
CEF, Denmans, Screwfix & anything else when desperate!! 10%

Do a lot of travel & find Edmundsons pretty consistent with availability, also home branch (Norwich) is excellent!

70% Electricfix order online mainly but collection or delivery is dependant on if I need it that day
15% my local small independent, would use it more but it shuts at 1pm every day!
10% Edmunsons, but finding myself in there more and more due to the above
3% CEF, good for tails etc by the metre
2% ebay, for those little things like gu5.3 connectors etc

Electricfix.click and collect Good delivery spots also. Also good returns
Tlc. Decent deliverys
various online for specific bits I can't get at tlc or elecfix.
Also use Sparks,Arrow, Senate for local bits in a hurry.
I try to use tlc and screwfix most cod you know exactly what you're paying rather than the potluck in the wholesalers. No surprises when the invoice turns up.
