Arsenal

hello lads just wanted to get some advice on becoming an electrician .

i have no experience/qualifications to do with electrics apart from helping my father out when i was younger who has been an electrician for over 30 years.

im 28 years old this year and ive putting off training in this trade for so many years due to no self belief getting my self on the wrong road with the wrong people.

ive got a good start by being able to work with my father when i near the end of the course to get some experience aswell.

im now chomping at the bit to go for it but ive hit a few walls while researching like these crazy courses for thousands which i will not be going on & colledges that now dont do the 2330 anymore for adult learners !

also am i right in thinking that this course has to be done inbetween sept-may ?

Any information on what i should do or if i cant get a colledge course is there a reliable skills course ÂŁÂŁÂŁÂŁ what has good feedback ?

Thanks for reading any info would be great.

as it seems your in gods country try gateshead college. ring them, ignore the website as at times its not up to date. they have a construcion skills academy on team valley ind est, you can do the 2357 there 2 nights a week its a 3 or 4 year course mind, but as said, the route into the trade.

for the love of god dont go to some back street training provider as they will just rob you and give you false hope. try and get work in the trade, with your dad or whoever, as the course is useless without experiance.

Yes i tried a number earlier for the skills academy but they were not about so will try tommorow or just driive through . its a full time course that i would like to find something 4/5 days a week if possible , ill let you know what happens tommorow thankyou

I`v sent him a PM mark explaining the best way to go about getting at least some employment in the electrical installation sector....
this is what he will need if he`s going to be accepted for enrollment on the new course (C&G2357)..

Yes was nearly everything i need to know in a few paragraphs spot on mate cheers

Also, try South Tyneside College. I know it'll be a trek for you but the lecturers are great, the grub is pretty good and there's hordes of totty.
Never know you might like it enough to move to the proper end of god's own country, South Shields. The land of a thousand indian restaurants (some of which are actually safe to eat in) :)

Best of luck Arsenal (that's you by the way not the footy team as I think there poo)

haha cheers
